These two met one night at a Country & Western dance club in Austin, and once he asked her to dance, sparks started flying right away! To really show off their connection, it was only appropriate that their engagement session take place out in the country. And when I say country… I mean serious, beautiful horses, long dirt road, grown over pastures, COUNTRY. We even had to break out the bug spray for this one! I left with a few bug bites, and a branch under my car from our off road adventure, but it was definitely worth it. Country perfection I tell you! The horses clearly mastered the art of photo bombing, and a little rabbit even wanted to participate in their session. Luckily, those are the only animals we came across out there in the middle of no where! These two claimed to be nervous in front of the camera, but did great once we got going. Especially when they started dancing in the middle of the long dirt road as the sun started setting, right before we finished up. When they started talking and giggling amongst themselves, you can definitely see those sparks! So flippin’ cute. It’s great to see how happy they make each other! They’ll have a while to perfect their moves for their first country dance as Mr and Mrs next May, and I’m definitely looking forward to it!!

A Yummy Engagement Session
Engagements, PetsI have been excited about posting this yummy engagement session since before the session even took place when I was back in Texas not too long ago! This is my sister-in-law, her groom-to-be, and their fur baby Raad. How cute is their little family!? I just love that they included Raad in their engagement photos, but let’s be real…that was to be expected. After all, HE was the one who asked her to marry he and his dad (on a note that was tied to his collar). ;-) Raad is even going to be in the wedding. Just as he should be! I’m so eager to see the three of them get married in November!! As odd as it may seem to some, I refer to their session as yummy for two reasons: 1.) Because the sun light and weather were just about perfection to take beautiful photos. Even for Texas standards! It’s the little things, and another great reason to get even more excited about their session. 2.) Because anyone knows these two, KNOWS they they know a thing or two about really good food. They just happen to be major foodies in Austin, and the Mr-to-be is even a chef at one of the most popular restaurants downtown! Anytime I need a great recommendation in Austin, they are the first people I contact. That leads me to another of the many reasons that I got so excited about their session… they chose to take the second half of their photos in front of the “Butter Half” mural in east Austin! There couldn’t possibly be a more perfect option for these two! We had so much fun during their session. You can tell from a few of the photos below that these two are super silly…lol. What I didn’t expect (or think about) was how great it would be to see how much they both really adored each other. It’s a great feeling to see your family happy in love! I had to include a few photos of her beautiful ring also! Butttt, unlike most couples the groom-to-be has an engagement ring also. A ‘MANgagement’ ring, as they called it. It’s their thing. Maybe it should be A thing…? Either way, I hope you enjoy looking at their photos at least half as much as I enjoyed taking them!
The Day Wedding • Destination Wedding Photographer
WeddingsHappy Valentine’s evening to everyone, especially my most recent love birds… Mr. and Mrs. Day!! Since their wedding them was actually “Love Birds” I thought it would be perfect to blog their photos tonight. I mean, how cool would that be to celebrate The Ultimate Day of LOVE as a newlywed!? All fresh and in loveeee. These two completely ADORE each other, and it makes photographing them so much fun. Seriously, their engagement photo session was just perfection ON Lady Bird Lake. Their wedding was just down the street, also right downtown in the lovely city of Austin. The bridal party got ready at the at the Omni Hotel downtown…mimosas, lots hairspray, and all those important things you need to get an amazing wedding day started out. Once all the bride’s final details were perfected, they went right down the street where their beautiful ceremony took place at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Though they’re a bit strict with their photography rules, but that church is just stunning! Their ceremony was SO sweet. The bride and groom’s niece was the flower girl, and pulled their handsome little boy down the isle in a cute little wagon! She did and awesome job, and he did as well. Just precious! From good laughs to joyful tears all around, it was such a touching ceremony. Once the Mr. and Mrs. were official, we took all the important family photos, a few fun ones, then headed to their reception out at Texas Old Town. Rosebud Hall was the perfect spot for their bird cage wedding decor. Especially the perch swing that Chris made especially for Vanessa’s Bridal Photo Session! It that was the perfect touch for their wedding reception, and made for the perfect photo opportunity. Seriously, proven awesome husband already! During the Father/Daughter dance, Vanessa and her dad busted out and surprised everyone with a super fun choreographed dance mix. It was clear that they had SO much doing it, and everyone was highly impressed with their performance! Once the party got going, it was a danceFEST. All ages, all night. The dance floor was hot, and it was awesome to see everyone having so much fun! At the end of the night Vanessa changed into her mother’s wedding gown (the same one she also wore in her Bridal Photo Session). I just LOVE everything about that. After their final dance, all their friends and family saw them off with…BIRD SEED (of course). The perfect option to end their perfect wedding day! What a fun, filled, full day of great memories for these two Love Birds. ;-)

A Birdcage Bridal Session • Houston Bridal Photos
WeddingsI have been very excited about posting these bridal session photos for quiet some time. Before we even did the session to be honest…lol. Knowing how passionate this pretty lady is about her photos, I was confident that Vanessa’s bridal session would be an awesome one (unless something SUPER crazy happened). Thankfully, it was awesome as expected. Vanessa decided to wear her mom’s wedding dress for her bridal photos, and it fit her bird cage theme perfectly! I was amazed to find out that she didn’t even have to get it altered!! So very cool. Also, her husband-to-be even MADE and HUNG a perch swing to incorporate into her session with lots of different bird cages! Seriously, awesome!! And yes, I just had to include a behind the scenes photo of that greatness below. What a great guy! After pulling out all the stops for their uniqueEngagement Photo Session ON Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, I can’t say that I’m shocked. Well these love birds got married this past weekend, and it was a blast photographing their wedding! I was thrilled to see that they had her Bridal Session perch swing hanging behind their sweetheart table during their reception. Of COURSE we seized the opportunity to take some fun photos of the new Mr. and Mrs. on that! Be sure to keep an eye out for sneak peaks of their wedding photos on the Facebook soon, and ultimately here on the blog also!!
A Unique Engagement • Houston Engagement Photos
EngagementsIt’s been a while since I’ve posted an engagement session, and I would like to believe that this one is definitely WELL worth the wait! I will never forget the day that I received Vanessa’s initial engagement photo session email inquiry… I walked into the other room where my boyfriend (now husband) was sitting and said “You are never going to believe the inquiry I just got.” Of course he was curious, so I proceeded to tell him that someone contact me and wants to do their engagement session ON their wake boarding boat ON Lady Bird Lake in Austin. WHAT in the WORLD?! For those of you that don’t know, motorized boats are not permitted on Lady Bird Lake. In her email she explained that her fiancé was attempting to get special permission from the city to launch their boat their!! They spend most of their free time on their boat, and really wanted to incorporate that into their session. BUT they didn’t want to have their photos taken on any old lake.. They wanted the POP of the beautiful Austin Texas skyline in their photos also! I’ll be honest, initially I thought this session was completely unrealistic, BUT these two definitely proved me wrong! I am SO EXCITED that they did, and even more so that they trusted me to bring their photo vision to life!! They are definitely my dream client to say the least. An incredibly cool couple in love that have a passionate/meaningful vision for beautiful photos AND they’re willing to go to great lengths to make their vision happen! AMAZING. Chris got approval from the city, and the planning began. After launching their boat into the lake he strategically mounted a trolling motor to the back of the boat so he could maneuver the boat around as needed (I just had to include our out-take photos of that below also)! Since there were many potential unknowns that could have come up during their session, I had an assistant there to help out. I shot the first portion of their photos from a dock with my long lens, and then we joined them on the boat to finish up the session. Of course my equipment is fully insured, and OF COURSE it was absolutely worth the risk. Their engagement session was perfection, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Well this weekend these two love birds are getting married, and I’m equally excited to photograph their wedding! My next blog post will be Vanessa’s beautiful bridal photo session that we did last month, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!
