This photography session is proof that just because everything doesn’t turn out exactly as planned, doesn’t mean it’s going to be anything less than perfect. I’ve photographed this beautiful little lady since she was in her mom’s belly. It seems as if that was WAY back when..lol. I was very excited to also take her One Year Photos when I returned back to Texas last month! Her session was early in the morning, it was chilly outside (for us Texans), and little miss had the sniffles. Not a good day for her. Even though we did her session at her favorite neighborhood park, she just wasn’t feeling it. But we went with it regardless, and I am SO glad that we did! We ultimately had to pull out all the tricks we could to get a sweet smile out of her. She always has been such a serious little lady! Thank goodness momma knows just how to get her baby girl to really giggle! I mean, how precious is her cute little giggle AND her precious little pout?!? I love that we were able to capture each of those expressions! I have no doubt that her mom is going to break these photos out to show off when Mckenzie gets a lot older. Just as she should! ;-)

Say Hello to Little Luna • Anchorage Pet Photographer

I met this little lady’s mom when I photographed the Grand Opening of the Lululemon Showroom here in Anchorage a couple months ago. She and her boyfriend recently brought home this precious puppy pet, and of course that is an amazing reason to take professional photos! We finally found an opportunity to align our schedules, and I scouted a cool/stunning new location just south of Anchorage. I am very glad that Fall was in full swing, and I was able to capture all the gorgeous colors in their session. And SERIOUSLY, could Luna possibly be ANY cuter!? Just look at those big pretty puppy eyes of hers! She was SO cute and curious. For being so young, she did awesome during their pet photo session. I am very excited to share some of their beautiful photos. I’m not going to lie… There were SO many great ones, that I had a really hard time narrowing it down for this blog post! No complaints here, I love having that problem. I am very excited about our session success!! ;-)

I’m not even sure where to start with these two…LOVE – that is what you see when you look at them. Head over heels, perfect, shiny happy, make everyone around jealous – LOVE. I was very excited about photographing their wedding because they just glow when they are behind the camera together. I already knew this much because we had such a great time during their engagement session (you can check those photos out here if you missed them). It’s hard to put into words but once you see it, you understand that they truly just adore the heck out of each other! That definitely shows in their photos. I absolutely LOVE their love for each other. I rarely even had to ask them to kiss, because they did it on their own so often anyway. So flippin’ sweet!! Of course their big day was just stunning! The flowers were perfectly arranged by STEMS Floral Design. They had cigars, koozies and cupcakes. There were even flip flops for dancing to the great live music by The Nolan Pick Band. I don’t believe there was a single detail overlooked. Their venue, Barr Mansion, even radiated beauty and historic charm from all angles. The food and deserts were just amazing, as expected. They are the nation’s first certified organic events facility. They even created a custom menu using all local farm grown ingredients. Can we say YUM?! Photographing Jessica and Andy’s big day made me very happy. Seriously, it’s such a good feeling when MY cheeks are sore at the end of the night from smiling so much, and I’m behind the camera! It’s even more exciting that once we get their gorgeous wedding album in because we all get to relive the night all over again. Looking back on all their photos gets me so excited for my big day in December!

This awesome family just happens to be friends with my little Edible Austin Magazine Cover Model back in Texas! They hadn’t had family photos taken in several years, and I’m glad mom decided that it was time for an update. I was thrilled when they asked if they could have other family members, including their pups join in on the session!! Then, once we decided to do their photo session at their favorite park in Anchorage, I just knew their session was going to be a really good one! The trails, creek and pond were just gorgeous. There even happened to be a perfect little stump that we were able to use also. What a good looking family!! It makes me so happy when things work out so well, and we able to capture lots of beautiful moments. =)

Introducing Novi Snow • Anchorage Newborn Photographer

As I was driving to this newborn session, I started getting abnormally excited. Not only was it my first session here in Anchorage, but as I continued driving further up the mountain side, I came to suspect that it would truly have an authentic “Alaskan” feel to it. I was definitely right about that. At six days young, with her nine pounds of cuteness, Novi (which means “New”) was VERY curious to know what was going on! Luckily mom and dad’s iron stove kept all of us warm and toasty, so she was cozy and calm for her first photo shoot. Her big brother Cooper (a 3 year old handsome Alaskan Malamute/Lab mix) was just as curious, and even more so, protective of his new baby. I can’t even explain the cuteness of these two together cuddled up on an old sheepskin that has been passed down thru her dad’s family. Priceless perfection in her little log cabin nursery! Now they can start a new family tradition and pass their precious photo down WITH the sheepskin. It will be really cool to see the size difference between Cooper and Novi once she gets a little bigger. I have no doubt they will have a blast playing in the snow up in the mountains!

A Night of Style Fashion Show • Anchorage Event Photographer

Posh Boutique, Kendall Lexus of Alaska, and Beacon Media + Marketing partnered up to put on the benefit trunk show of the season benefitting The Eva Foundation! This foundation helps survivors of abuse regain their self-confidence and independence to build a better life. The runway fashion show featured the new looks from Posh Boutique, the showroom was decorated by Artwork from local artist V Rhae, the event was catered by Terra Bella, and specialty drinks were provided by Truli Peak Vodka. They had amazing swag bags for all the guests, and fantastic raffle prizes from Allure Day Spa, and many others. Mrs. Alaska was there to MC, and even the namesake of The Eva Foundation was there to tell her story. It was so great to be part of such a fantastic night, benefitting such a great organization! Just to give you guys a little heads up… Savvy Images is very excited to be donating a Two Hour Family Photography Session (including a 10 Folio Collection) to the silent auction taking place at The Christmas Tree Elegance Christmas Gala!! The Thorsson Maternity Session • Anchorage Maternity Photos

This beautiful Momma-to-be and I have a couple mutual friends back in Texas. Once our move to Anchorage was in motion, I was SO excited to hear that she was interested in having maternity and newborn photos taken! With countless beautiful new spots to photograph at, I had such a hard time deciding where to do their session! Though the wind definitely kept us on our toes, I’m very happy with our decision. Big Sister-to-be was such a little ham! She is certainly not a fan of being in front of the camera, but she kept us all cracking up while running circles around mom and dad, and photo bombing their photos! That little lady definitely has a personality, and we’re both eager to meet her little brother sometime soon!! The Cobb Maternity Session • Austin Maternity Photographer

I’ve know Jordan and JD since our college days, and was very excited when they contacted me to take their maternity photos! It was pretty amazing, because you could just see the excitement of the pregnancy pouring out from BOTH of their pores! Jordan was on bed rest during the last half of her pregnancy, so we tried our best to take most of her photos sitting or lying down. With the exception of a few poses, including the colorful “I Love You So Much” mural that she was very passionate about taking (for cute obvious reasons)! There were several great photo spots at their home, my favorite being the cozy/awesome bed swing! I must say that she could potentially be superhuman…in addition to her gorgeous glow, I believe she is the only Mother-to-be that I have photographed that still has amazing stomach definition! It will be pretty cool for her to look back on these photos as a reminder of the drastic changes her body we thru while she was sporting her cute baby bump!

This handsome little guy made his grand entrance to the world early, and mom and dad hadn’t even have the opportunity to set up his newborn photo session. As soon as we could get it scheduled, at eight weeks young, Justin did incredibly well for us! He was such a bright eyed little poser, and even allowed us to take colorful outdoor photos with mom and dad. They are such a beautiful family, and I look forward to seeing him become a handsome little man. With his parents genes that’s clearly a given. Watch out mom and dad!! ;-P

Grand Opening of Lululemon Athletica

There has been lots of excitement among the ladies of Anchorage, Alaska… The Lululemon Athletica Showroom is finally open!! It is just beautiful. The hard working ladies that run the place are knowledgeable, helpful, and incredibly nice! Guys… don’t feel left out, because they even have lots of amazing gear for you! As well as a comfy sitting area. ;-) They’re open Thursdays thru Sundays from 11am to 6pm, so definitely stop by and check it out sometime. They can get you fixed up with some pretty amazing work out attire! Below are some of the photos from their Grand Opening weekend, which included two amazing guest yoga instructors, yummy snacks, and even a DJ. Because they’re a ‘showroom’, they’ll be a lot more focused on the community, and connecting with all the cool/active folks around Anchorage. I met Dani thru a good friend of mine while attending the Austin Bridal Extravaganza back in January. We were both completely overwhelmed with all the fun wedding planning details that we each needed to tackle in the near future…lol. We briefly talked about our each of our big days, our possible plans, AND how important our photography was. Clearly. Shortly after meeting, she contact me about capturing her and her fiancé’s big day. I was thrilled!! They chose to have an intimate ceremony with their immediate family at Mayfield Park (which happens to be one of my favorite go-to photo spots in Austin). Their day was simply stunning! The peacocks there were a perfect touch, especially since Dani happens to LOVE birds! No wonder she chose to get married there. ;-) She even used a couple colorful feathers from her pet parakeet to top her beautiful birdcage veil. I’m not sure it could have been any more perfect. Following their ceremony the entire family celebrate their nuptials in a private dining room at Vespaio on South Congress. A beautiful, meaningful venue, all your important people, and amazing food… such an incredible way to start a new life together! I’m really eager to get their wedding album designed and ordered, so they can start showing off their beautiful wedding photos!
