This little guy is growing up fast, but I’m still excited about officially introducing him and his awesome family!! Seriously, they are SO much fun, and I’m blessed to have such awesome clients! His mom came to me with a fun “before and after baby” idea she’d seen online. Not only do I think we nailed it, but we all had SO much fun actually taking the photos. That is a HUGE plus in my opinion! We took the first silly family photo during their maternity session, and then after Callum made his grand entrance into the world, we took the second photo at the beginning of his newborn session. I LOVE that they wanted to include the entire family in some fun photos! This handsome little guy was a dream to photograph. He was alert during the first part of his newborn session, but posed perfectly for my camera…I think mom and dad may have a little model on their hands?! All his little baby details were beyond precious, and I don’t believe he even cried ONCE.. Just amazing! That certainly happens, but not very often at all. Because we did the session in their home, we were even able to carefully pose him (with mom very close by), in a cool piece of artwork. I always love using personal items in newborn sessions when possible, to add an incredibly personal touch. In twenty years he will be able to look back at these photos, see that piece of artwork in his parent’s living room, and then realize just how small his cutie booty actually was!

A Bittersweet Goodbye
PetsI have to warn you that this is such a sad but incredibly sweet story about a loving family’s pet, and their recent bittersweet goodbye. A fellow incredibly talented photography friend and I had plans to go shooting not too long ago, but we had to cancel them because his world was quickly turned upside down. One of his two furbabies slipped on the ice in their yard and broke her femur. When he and his wife took Luci (their 10 year old black and white Husky rescue puppy) to the vet, they unexpectedly discovered that their healthy little girl had cancer. Incredibly heartbreaking news. It was taking over her body, and weakening her bones. They were faced with one of the most difficult decisions that they’ve ever had to make. As any good parent would, they didn’t want to see their baby suffer. When he told me what happened, I offered to take photos of the four of them as a family right away. I wasn’t sure how he would feel about that, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to offer. They had a couple days to say goodbye, and his wife decided that they wanted me to come and take photos of them. After ten years and MANY photos later, the four of them never had a photo taken together! They had planned on scheduling a portrait session in the spring, but time didn’t allow for that. If you happen to follow my blog or Instagram, you know how much I HATE cancer, and how much I LOVE Furbabies. I knew that it would be an incredibly hard session to photograph, but I thought it was incredibly important for them to have photos as a family. Their furbabies were beautiful, SO sweet and very curious about this new person in their home. After some sniffing, I was glad that they welcomed me with lots of kisses! We all held it together very well, but there was an unmentioned ache in everyone’s heart. Even Luci’s sister Apun knew something was going on. She was also a rescue puppy that joined their family very soon after Luci. As a puppy, she was snow white, so appropriately so, her name means ‘snow’ in Yupik. She was a sassy little gal, and she was being protective of her sister. She cracked us up with her cute little whiny noises! I can’t even explain how cute they were together. All four of them. Those furbabies were definitely loved, and it was VERY clear that they loved their mom and dad right back. We did the session in their living room so Luci was comfortable. I’m SO glad that we did, because we were able to take photos of them on THEIR favorite. Yes of course, a couch just for the girls! (I told you there were loved) Their neighbors call Luci and Apun the neighborhood watch dogs, because they sit up on the back of their couch and keep an eye on everything, out their big living room window. Seriously SO cute! It makes me smile thinking about the great stories they told about Luci, and knowing how much joy she brought to their hearts over the last ten years. I absolutely hate that they had to say goodbye to their baby girl, but I’m very honored to capture the last wonderful moments together.
Introducing Kasen Campbell • Anchorage Newborn Photos
NewbornsThere has been a lot of catching up, as well as exciting plans in the works over here at Savvy Images!! You may remember cute little Kasen’s sneak peek from last spring. This little guy was born three weeks early weighing in at a whopping 4 pounds and 10 ounces, and spent lots of time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). I can say one thing with certainty… this handsome mini man is a fighter! Though he was a bit gassy during his newborn session, he continues to make his parents very proud. Haha, it could have been worse. He put us to work, but we definitely captured some pretty precious photos for mom and dad. Including their first family photo with his fur-brother Presley! I can’t wait until he grows up to see how little his butt once was in his daddy’s baseball glove!! And I bet one day he’ll also play many great rounds of golf with his grandpa’s golf club. There is no doubt that dad will make sure Kasen is a great little sportsman!
The Dorman Family • Houston Family Photos
Families, KidsEach year I gift a pretty frame and a family photography session to my sister and her husband for Christmas. Last year she decided to use that session for portraits of her beautiful step daughter. It took us SIX months to coordinate our schedules to get that session done! This Christmas we did her family photo session the VERY next day, and I was beyond eager to take photos of them! They live way down in southeast Texas, so we actually ventured to Louisiana for their session. It was definitely worth the drive, because I am IN LOVE with their family photos! You better believe I’ll be printing a few of these myself to hang in my home. They have their hands full with a beautiful sassy teen and two rambunctious, yet handsome boys. I’m beyond grateful to be their Aunt, and am SO glad they’re so much fun. As always, the boys were incredibly silly. They had a blast running around the huge deck! My little newborn inspiration and aspiring photographer even had to break out his new iPod and take photos himself. I absolutely love it!! Looking at these photos again makes me miss them something major, BUT they also make me smile… because I know they have beautiful photos hanging on their walls now! Just as everyone should. ;-)Seriously so precious and SO silly!!
Since they’re family I had to sneak in one of their funny face test shots! Haha
They have to keep an eye on this pretty Miss! ;-)
These goofballs are total sweethearts also!
My gorgeous Vanna White, and new photog assistant in the making!
Anderson Family Review • Houston Family Photographer
Babies, Families, Kids, Maternity, NewbornsThis blog post is a compilation of photos that I have taken of the Anderson Family over the last year and a half, beginning with wonderful news of Baby #2 during an Announcement Mini Session!! You have probably seen some of these photos on past blogs or sneak peeks, but I thought it was really important to actually show their journey collectively. I am very fortunate because this hot momma happens to be one of my very best friends. Not only does she have a beautiful growing family that is a blast to photograph, but she also truly cherishes having beautiful photos. WIN-WIN. I’m incredibly grateful that she has helped to support the growth of Savvy Images over the last several years (another major WIN)! She and her husband are small business owners themselves, so they fully understand the struggles involved with growing and maintaining a reputable company these days.
In the recent past I’ve gotten questions from aspiring/amateur photographers about taking photos for family and friends. I figured out fast that could be VERY tricky! I would absolutely LOVE to take beautiful photos of all of my loved ones at no charge, but if I did, I would quickly go broke! When I established Savvy Images, I decided that I would have a set rate (and expectations) for my family and and any close friends that wanted me to take photos for them. It prevented any potential miscommunications, and set our photo experience up for success! It’s safe to say that anyone would like great photos for free, but I felt that if they truly valued my hard work and photography, that they would be willing to pay a fair price for it. It helps to ensure that I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of (not they ever would intentionally do so), and no wheeling & dealing is ever necessary to cause any potential awkwardness between us. After all, photography IS my career. My clients reactions to their photographs is INcredibly rewarding to me, but unfortunately my bills are not going to pay themselves! Dang it..Haha! I honestly feel that one of the reasons that Savvy Images has been so successful is because my family and friends were completely on board with my thinking on this, and continued to support my vision and hard work over the past several years. What can I say… they truly are AWESOME!!

Ayden is ONE • Anchorage Baby Photography
BabiesPhotographing this baby girl over the last year has been so much fun! Sassy ~ Sassy ~ Sassy!! I called it the first time I met her during her newborn session, and then shortly after that she made it even more apparent during her six month photo session. I’m so glad that I was right, because capturing all that sass in her photos is an absolute blast! Her mom wanted to do Ayden’s one year session at their brand new home, so it was the perfect opportunity to take some really fun photos where they get to hang out everyday. BUT, it’s not every day that you get to take photos with balloons in your bed, and smashing cake on mom’s nice marble kitchen counter! Just LOOK at those cute little pony tails!! In a dozen years or so, mom and dad will need to look back on her all her cute photos to remind themselves what a sweet little bundle of joy she was. I have a sneaking suspicion that Ayden will definitely keep them on their toes for years to come, and I look forward to capturing many more of their fun moments along the way.

Contact Savvy Images so we can capture all your little bundle’s memorable moments before they fly by!
Introducing Thomas Brady • Houston Newborn Photographer
NewbornsThis little newborn was such a handsome little guy. He was curious about what was going on during most of his session, but was definitely a laid back fella. His full name is Thomas Brady, but he his parents have decided he will go by his middle name, Brady. As you could potentially suspect from his name, and definitely tell from his newborn photos, someone’s daddy MAY or may not be a BIG fan of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. ;-) I absolutely love when parents choose to incorporate things into their newborn sessions that are incredibly meaningful. OH, I should mention that his sweet mom handmade all of the little newbie outfits that we used during his session! Her future little ladies man modeled everything very nicely for us! Another personal touch that makes his newborn photos even more meaningful. She has made lots of cool things for Brady and his big sister. One day they will be VERY proud to have such a talented mommy! I only wish I had time to teach myself how to crochet…lol…maybe one day!? If you missed seeing his families Maternity photos, then you can check them out here!
The timing of newborn photos are very important.
Be sure to contact Savvy Images to get your session
on our calendar before that special day sneaks up!!
Mckenzie is ONE • Houston Baby Photography
BabiesThis photography session is proof that just because everything doesn’t turn out exactly as planned, doesn’t mean it’s going to be anything less than perfect. I’ve photographed this beautiful little lady since she was in her mom’s belly. It seems as if that was WAY back when..lol. I was very excited to also take her One Year Photos when I returned back to Texas last month! Her session was early in the morning, it was chilly outside (for us Texans), and little miss had the sniffles. Not a good day for her. Even though we did her session at her favorite neighborhood park, she just wasn’t feeling it. But we went with it regardless, and I am SO glad that we did! We ultimately had to pull out all the tricks we could to get a sweet smile out of her. She always has been such a serious little lady! Thank goodness momma knows just how to get her baby girl to really giggle! I mean, how precious is her cute little giggle AND her precious little pout?!? I love that we were able to capture each of those expressions! I have no doubt that her mom is going to break these photos out to show off when Mckenzie gets a lot older. Just as she should! ;-)

The Withrow Maternity Session • Anchorage Maternity Photos
Families, Kids, MaternityThese maternity photos make me SMILE!! Seriously…how in the world could these photos not make someone smile from ear to ear..?! From actually taking the photos, to editing them, to writing this blog post. All around, it was such a great photo session. Thanks to this handsome little ham Halen (and recently proud big brother), mom’s awesome style choosing the outfits for their session, all the lovely fall leaves, and even the evening light was fantastic!! I thought the Boardwalk at Potter Marsh would be a great place to keep this little guy’s attention, and get a good variety of great photos. Working with kiddos his age definitely keeps me on my toes and I love it! We played in the leaves, walked along the boardwalk, looked for birds, bears & fish, and mom & dad got lots of silly kisses. We manage to snag a few photos of Halen’s stunning momma, and even some of the proud parents alone. Someone (ahem…Halen..lol) loved taking photos, and tried to sneak his way into all the great shots! Haha. Of course we didn’t mind though. It was clear that this little guy lovesss his mom and dad. There is no doubt that he will absolulely love his baby brother Hudson just as much! SO DARN CUTE. I’m already looking forward to photographing the whole family soon!!

Say Hello to Little Luna • Anchorage Pet Photographer
PetsI met this little lady’s mom when I photographed the Grand Opening of the Lululemon Showroom here in Anchorage a couple months ago. She and her boyfriend recently brought home this precious puppy pet, and of course that is an amazing reason to take professional photos! We finally found an opportunity to align our schedules, and I scouted a cool/stunning new location just south of Anchorage. I am very glad that Fall was in full swing, and I was able to capture all the gorgeous colors in their session. And SERIOUSLY, could Luna possibly be ANY cuter!? Just look at those big pretty puppy eyes of hers! She was SO cute and curious. For being so young, she did awesome during their pet photo session. I am very excited to share some of their beautiful photos. I’m not going to lie… There were SO many great ones, that I had a really hard time narrowing it down for this blog post! No complaints here, I love having that problem. I am very excited about our session success!! ;-)
Contact Savvy Images, and we can get you fixed right up. Mention you saw Luna’s blog post, and we’ll even make sure you get a discount on your precious pet photo session!
The Godbold Wedding • Austin Wedding Photographer
WeddingsI’m not even sure where to start with these two…LOVE – that is what you see when you look at them. Head over heels, perfect, shiny happy, make everyone around jealous – LOVE. I was very excited about photographing their wedding because they just glow when they are behind the camera together. I already knew this much because we had such a great time during their engagement session (you can check those photos out here if you missed them). It’s hard to put into words but once you see it, you understand that they truly just adore the heck out of each other! That definitely shows in their photos. I absolutely LOVE their love for each other. I rarely even had to ask them to kiss, because they did it on their own so often anyway. So flippin’ sweet!! Of course their big day was just stunning! The flowers were perfectly arranged by STEMS Floral Design. They had cigars, koozies and cupcakes. There were even flip flops for dancing to the great live music by The Nolan Pick Band. I don’t believe there was a single detail overlooked. Their venue, Barr Mansion, even radiated beauty and historic charm from all angles. The food and deserts were just amazing, as expected. They are the nation’s first certified organic events facility. They even created a custom menu using all local farm grown ingredients. Can we say YUM?! Photographing Jessica and Andy’s big day made me very happy. Seriously, it’s such a good feeling when MY cheeks are sore at the end of the night from smiling so much, and I’m behind the camera! It’s even more exciting that once we get their gorgeous wedding album in because we all get to relive the night all over again. Looking back on all their photos gets me so excited for my big day in December!

The Griffith Family Session • Anchorage Family Photographer
Families, PetsThis awesome family just happens to be friends with my little Edible Austin Magazine Cover Model back in Texas! They hadn’t had family photos taken in several years, and I’m glad mom decided that it was time for an update. I was thrilled when they asked if they could have other family members, including their pups join in on the session!! Then, once we decided to do their photo session at their favorite park in Anchorage, I just knew their session was going to be a really good one! The trails, creek and pond were just gorgeous. There even happened to be a perfect little stump that we were able to use also. What a good looking family!! It makes me so happy when things work out so well, and we able to capture lots of beautiful moments. =)
Does your family need updated family photos also?
