The Day Wedding • Destination Wedding Photographer

Weddings

Happy Valentine’s evening to everyone, especially my most recent love birds… Mr. and Mrs. Day!! Since their wedding them was actually “Love Birds” I thought it would be perfect to blog their photos tonight. I mean, how cool would that be to celebrate The Ultimate Day of LOVE as a newlywed!? All fresh and in loveeee. These two completely ADORE each other, and it makes photographing them so much fun. Seriously, their engagement photo session was just perfection ON Lady Bird Lake. Their wedding was just down the street, also right downtown in the lovely city of Austin. The bridal party got ready at the at the Omni Hotel downtown…mimosas, lots hairspray, and all those important things you need to get an amazing wedding day started out. Once all the bride’s final details were perfected, they went right down the street where their beautiful ceremony took place at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Though they’re a bit strict with their photography rules, but that church is just stunning! Their ceremony was SO sweet. The bride and groom’s niece was the flower girl, and pulled their handsome little boy down the isle in a cute little wagon! She did and awesome job, and he did as well. Just precious! From good laughs to joyful tears all around, it was such a touching ceremony. Once the Mr. and Mrs. were official, we took all the important family photos, a few fun ones, then headed to their reception out at Texas Old Town. Rosebud Hall was the perfect spot for their bird cage wedding decor. Especially the perch swing that Chris made especially for Vanessa’s Bridal Photo Session! It that was the perfect touch for their wedding reception, and made for the perfect photo opportunity. Seriously, proven awesome husband already! During the Father/Daughter dance, Vanessa and her dad busted out and surprised everyone with a super fun choreographed dance mix. It was clear that they had SO much doing it, and everyone was highly impressed with their performance! Once the party got going, it was a danceFEST. All ages, all night. The dance floor was hot, and it was awesome to see everyone having so much fun! At the end of the night Vanessa changed into her mother’s wedding gown (the same one she also wore in her Bridal Photo Session). I just LOVE everything about that. After their final dance, all their friends and family saw them off with…BIRD SEED (of course). The perfect option to end their perfect wedding day! What a fun, filled, full day of great memories for these two Love Birds. ;-)Savvy Images Destination Wedding Photographer

A Birdcage Bridal Session • Houston Bridal Photos

Weddings

I have been very excited about posting these bridal session photos for quiet some time. Before we even did the session to be honest…lol. Knowing how passionate this pretty lady is about her photos, I was confident that Vanessa’s bridal session would be an awesome one (unless something SUPER crazy happened). Thankfully, it was awesome as expected. Vanessa decided to wear her mom’s wedding dress for her bridal photos, and it fit her bird cage theme perfectly! I was amazed to find out that she didn’t even have to get it altered!! So very cool. Also, her husband-to-be even MADE and HUNG a perch swing to incorporate into her session with lots of different bird cages! Seriously, awesome!! And yes, I just had to include a behind the scenes photo of that greatness below. What a great guy! After pulling out all the stops for their uniqueEngagement Photo Session ON Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, I can’t say that I’m shocked. Well these love birds got married this past weekend, and it was a blast photographing their wedding! I was thrilled to see that they had her Bridal Session perch swing hanging behind their sweetheart table during their reception. Of COURSE we seized the opportunity to take some fun photos of the new Mr. and Mrs. on that! Be sure to keep an eye out for sneak peaks of their wedding photos on the Facebook soon, and ultimately here on the blog also!! Savvy Images - Anchorage Bridal Photos

Travel Tuesday • OUR Destination Wedding

Travel, Weddings

After some pretty amazing wedding festivities in the Dominican Republic over the past couple weeks, it is SO good to be back at it. As most of you can imagine, I am BEYOND excited to share some of the AMAZING photos that our destination wedding photographer Katelyn James took while we were there!! I cannot even explain just how INCREDIBLE she and Michael (her husband, second shooter & travel companion) were!! I could use so many wonderful words to describe them: Passionate, Talented, Detailed, Flexible, Prompt, Friendly. Those are a handful off the top of my head, but I cannot think of one word that could even express just HOW grateful I am that they did such an incredible job photographing our wedding weekend. I will seriously cherish their photos, and the memories that they captured for the rest of my life! Not only that, I learned lots of great new things from Katelyn that I can apply to my photography, ultimately bettering Savvy Images. It’s a win all around!! There are WAY to many that I love to share them all, but below are some of my favorites so far. If you are a bride or groom to-be reading this blog post, I hope you take at least ONE thing from it… BE SURE to hire a wedding photographer that you absolutely LOVE. You spend ALL day (if not longer with them), so you want to make sure you get along well, and that their work is in line with your expectations. With all the other chaos going on, the last thing you want to do on your big day, is question your photographer! Also, you can’t go back and/or have a do-over if you aren’t happy with your wedding photos for some reason. Planning a destination wedding, from what seems to be like a destination (aka Alaska) was extremely stressful, but having so much trust in Katelyn definitely helped keep my nerves somewhat in check. Haha. To see more of our wedding photos on Katelyn blog, please check that out here! Katelyn James Destination Wedding Photographer

The Godbold Wedding • Austin Wedding Photographer

Weddings

I’m not even sure where to start with these two…LOVE – that is what you see when you look at them. Head over heels, perfect, shiny happy, make everyone around jealous – LOVE. I was very excited about photographing their wedding because they just glow when they are behind the camera together. I already knew this much because we had such a great time during their engagement session (you can check those photos out here if you missed them). It’s hard to put into words but once you see it, you understand that they truly just adore the heck out of each other! That definitely shows in their photos. I absolutely LOVE their love for each other. I rarely even had to ask them to kiss, because they did it on their own so often anyway. So flippin’ sweet!! Of course their big day was just stunning! The flowers were perfectly arranged by STEMS Floral Design. They had cigars, koozies and cupcakes. There were even flip flops for dancing to the great live music by The Nolan Pick Band. I don’t believe there was a single detail overlooked. Their venue, Barr Mansion, even radiated beauty and historic charm from all angles. The food and deserts were just amazing, as expected. They are the nation’s first certified organic events facility. They even created a custom menu using all local farm grown ingredients. Can we say YUM?! Photographing Jessica and Andy’s big day made me very happy. Seriously, it’s such a good feeling when MY cheeks are sore at the end of the night from smiling so much, and I’m behind the camera! It’s even more exciting that once we get their gorgeous wedding album in because we all get to relive the night all over again. Looking back on all their photos gets me so excited for my big day in December!Savvy Images

Dani + Ruben = Married • Austin Wedding Photographer

Weddings

I met Dani thru a good friend of mine while attending the Austin Bridal Extravaganza back in January. We were both completely overwhelmed with all the fun wedding planning details that we each needed to tackle in the near future…lol. We briefly talked about our each of our big days, our possible plans, AND how important our photography was. Clearly. Shortly after meeting, she contact me about capturing her and her fiancé’s big day. I was thrilled!! They chose to have an intimate ceremony with their immediate family at Mayfield Park (which happens to be one of my favorite go-to photo spots in Austin). Their day was simply stunning! The peacocks there were a perfect touch, especially since Dani happens to LOVE birds! No wonder she chose to get married there. ;-) She even used a couple colorful feathers from her pet parakeet to top her beautiful birdcage veil. I’m not sure it could have been any more perfect. Following their ceremony the entire family celebrate their nuptials in a private dining room at Vespaio on South Congress. A beautiful, meaningful venue, all your important people, and amazing food… such an incredible way to start a new life together! I’m really eager to get their wedding album designed and ordered, so they can start showing off their beautiful wedding photos!

Ashley + Casey = Married • Austin Wedding Photographer

Pets, Weddings

Ashley contacted me to photograph her wedding (it seems like) eons before her big day. I like a woman that knows what she wants, and plans ahead. ;-) She and her fiance, Casey live in Connecticut and were planning a destination wedding here in Austin. They prepared for their big day at The Driskill, and had their ceremony right down the street at the very beautiful St. Mary’s Cathedral. Unlike most weddings, we had almost two hours to take LOTS of photos before their reception, and a Hummer Limo to take us anywhere that time would allow. As requested by the bride, I devised a plan to drop by and take wedding party photos at many of the cool Austin landmarks and murals around town. We had such a great time, and my second shooter and I quickly learned that these guys like to have a really good time! And they did just the same during their reception at Malverde. Who wouldn’t with a mariachi band, margaritas and lots of great food?! They even had their dog Crash join in on the party. Such a beautiful and fun little family!!

Vanessa + Jorge = Married • Austin Wedding Photographer

Weddings

I had such a good time getting to know these two love birds during their engagement session a couple months ago, that I knew Vanessa and Jorge’s wedding was going to be a blast. Their ceremony was at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, and then their reception followed at Villa Antonia. It was beautiful. From the gorgeous cake and flowers, to an incredibly elaborate Spanish Sweets Bar, the view… everything. And especially the bride and groom! They even had little photo negatives of their engagement photos hanging on branches at the desert table as decoration. SO creative. And boy was I right about it being fun. They got the night started by a PRICELESS choreographed father/daughter dance. At that point, there was NO doubt that these Spanish folks really know how to celebrate their loved ones. With hats, glasses and air guitars and even a live band. My awesome second shooter and I were sad it was over so quickly. What a night!! If you missed their engagement session, you can see that here.
