Many people have asked what inspired my passion to photograph newborn babies… Eight years ago my nephew Colin Dale Dorman was born on July 4th at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. I lived in Chicago at the time, and quickly hopped on a flight back home as soon as I found out that my sister went into labor. It was probably one of the coolest, most memorable flights I’ve ever been on. For one, I was very eager to get to the hospital, and two… it was the 4th of July! As the plane approached the (incredibly tiny) Southeast Texas Regional Airport in Port Arthur, we flew over countless cool firework shows. I can’t really put into words how cool it was to see fireworks go off from above, while I was already SO excited to meet my FIRST nephew!!
Fast-forward several days later… I snuck Colin off into my sister and brother-in-law’s bedroom to take some photos of him at eight days young, and captured this PRECIOUS photo of him smiling!! (It was taken with a little Canon point and shoot camera, and this is a screen shot of the digital photo). I didn’t believe it when it actually happened.. I had to go back and look at the photo multiple times. I was SO PROUD. A perfect little nephew, with a perfect little smile!! It took me a while to actually pursue my passion, but I’ve been hooked every since! Eight years and MANY photos later, I’m very proud to have Savvy Images and he still has an incredibly charming little smile!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN DALE!!!!
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!
I’m very grateful for all the incredibly brave souls that fight for all of our freedom daily!
