Kids, Maternity

austin maternity photographerThe first time I met this sweet momma, I knew she was just as beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside. We met at my first Burlingame Mother’s event back in 2018. Moving to a new city, I was eager to connect with other moms. Spoiler alert – I was right. In addition to learning she was an all around awesome person, I also discovered what a talented musician she was! I love learning fun things about the different families I work with.We did their maternity session at Mills Canyon Nature Preserve in May of 2019. Wow, that seems like a lifetime ago. Regardless, I’m excited to finally share some of our favorite photos! Big Sister was such a DOLL. I’m honored to have documented this special time for their growing family!austin maternity photographer - savvy imagesChasity Noel is an Austin maternity photographer and also specializes in newborn, baby, and family photography. Coastal Flowers

    Maternity

Before I ever even realized living in California would be a reality for me, I always dreamt of coastal flowers. And more specifically, photographing a beautiful momma-to-be surround by thousands of colorful coastal flowers. This lovely lady contacted me shortly after we moved here, very early in her pregnancy. I was beyond thrilled she was being so proactive about her maternity session and knew she must really value having beautiful photos. She even had a very specific vision in mind for her maternity photos. Simple attire, stunning nursery and a cute lil bump. Easy.

Over the next several months, we randomly discussed details about her session. She would send me messages with photos she liked and I brainstormed ways to make her session unique. But little did I realize just how adorable her baby girl’s nursery was going to be!

I was thrilled to capture it in her photographs. There were so many precious details to document! We even managed to sneak dad in for several of the photos.I absolutely LOVE that you can see how much he adores her and her cute bump. She was even game for wearing one of my recent sewing creations! A crazy cute maternity body suit. It was my first time making something like this. Though it wasn’t perfect, I was very happy with how it turned out. And the color worked out perfectly to compliment the nursery!

But here’s where, my dreams came true……….

She is absolutely glowing! It may have been a stunning backdrop, but it was SO cold that evening. I’m so glad they were they were both such troopers. We all agreed it was definitely worth the drive and chilly breeze!Halfmoon Bay Maternity PhotosAnd then when I found out they got married on a beach, I knew this session was destined to be. They were the perfect couple for my coastal flower vision. I mean, there’s no other way to say it… this stunning momma KILLED IT.Halfmoon Bay Maternity Beach Photos

    Milk Bath Bonus

    Maternity, Personal

Never in my life would I have thought I would do a Milk Bath Photo Session. But when your talented photographer comes to you with a cool idea, you certainly don’t protest! I also never thought I would show photos like this of myself publicly, but holy hell…

Parenting 101, I have learned never to say never. ;-)

And more important, Pregnancy is hard.

Having a high risk pregnancy, given my limited upright time, laying down in the tub for this session wasn’t a problem at all.  These photos are like a badge of honor. My cleavage may be more than overwhelming, but I’m damn proud that my body worked so hard to successfully create a perfect little human.

Here they are… Baby Brett’s bump, in all her glory!

Milk bath maternity sessions may be a fad, anddd it was a bit strange to lay in a tub of milk, but I’m certainly glad we did it. It’s fun to push creative boundaries!

sweet pecks milk bath maternity photosHuge prego boobs and all, that’s a beautiful thing! If you missed my last blog post of my maternity photo session on the beach with her, you can check those out here.

    A Sweet Maternity Experience…

    Maternity, Personal

Many, many moons have passed, but I had share our beautiful images and maternity photo experience with Sweet Pecks Photography. If you know me personally or read my previous blog post, you already know my second pregnancy wasn’t a walk in the park. But lets be real, is it really for anyone?! Even if things go perfectly as planned, it’s still a pretty high stress time in one’s life. Worrying about having a great photo session experience should not be on your already LONG list of things to accomplish within such a short window of time.

I cannot stress this enough… Having a good connection with your maternity photographer is SO VERY important.

Of course, make sure you love their style and technique first. You should know they are clearly capable of taking beautiful photos. But taking lovely photos of the side of a barn is easy. LOL You may beam with stunning rays of golden sunshine, but “large and in charge” is how you will likely feel eight months in. Speaking from experience, you want to work with someone who makes you look AND feel your absolute best in front of their camera.

In the midst of a pretty unpleasant pregnancy, my experience with Shary at Sweet Pecks was a HUGE highlight. Knowing my situation, she went out of her way to make sure I had an amazing session. From scheduling, then planning, to execution… the entire process was zero stress. Even though a bit of a stretch for my circumstances, she brought my vision of a beach maternity photo session to life. And knowing my “upright” time was limited, she even drove to make it happen! Did I mention, she even provided the dresses I wore?!

That’s grand, but truly connecting with the person behind the camera is equally important.

You’ll want to trust they will capture your best angles and expressions. Standing stiff in front of a beautiful backdrop, with the perfect light, is not the way to go. It’s awkward. You’re growing a human. This is a pretty big time in your life. The goal should be to document real, genuine emotion. Giving a bit of direction here and there, when needed. You really want a photographer who engages with, encourages you, and embraces the moment your husband and toddler surprise you to join in on the session shortly after it begins. ;-)

Here are a few more tips on how to set yourself up for a successful maternity photo session:

    • Don’t be afraid to over communicate and ask a million questions to make sure your creative visions and plans align. I would even recommend getting on the phone a few times, especially when planning.
    • Be sure to understand how your photographer does things. From scheduling to the delivery of your final product, you should know exactly what to expect, and when to expect it will happen. If not, ask more questions.
    • Invest your time and energy into working with a maternity photographer who will go above and beyond to make you feel absolutely fabulous in every way possible. After all, you are about to push a living breathing bundle of baby into your world soon. You certainly deserve it!

These photographs bring me such joy, and I hope you enjoy seeing them also. Keep an eye out for my next blog post to see my fun little bonus Milk Bath Maternity Photo Session with Sweet Pecks Photography!

    An Intimate Maternity Session

    Maternity

In July this cute family announced they were adding twins to their future travel plans. Now I’m thrilled to show off their intimate maternity photos! You can view their announcement photos > HERE < if you missed those. We originally had very different plans for their maternity session, but Mom was unexpectedly restricted to bed rest. As they should have, our plans quickly adapted. I assured her that we would STILL be able to get some beautiful images of her beautiful double baby belly. That is just what we did.

We captured their maternity photos in the cozy comfort of their very own home. It can’t get any more personal than that. I absolutely love how unique their photos are, and how they very literally, capture this very special time in their lives. It doesn’t hurt they have a cool eclectic decor, collected from their many travels around the world. Even some of the books in the Little One’s ever-growing library are from Mom and Dad’s travels since finding out they were expecting. One thing I love about their home is they have their family photos aesthetically displayed ALL over their home. As you can see from the photos below, they even have a large canvas from their announcement photos in the kiddos nursery! I love seeing my client’s photos proudly showcased, as they should be.

If you have a chance to check out this adventurous Momma’s travel blog, Always on Vacay, please do so now! –> www.alwaysonvacay.com <-- She has several posts with great maternity getaway ideas and suggestions. You can also find her on Instagram –> @alwaysonvacay_swang. Either way, I have no doubt she’ll also eventually have helpful blog posts about successfully traveling with her Little Loves!

    Momma Roesner

    Maternity

I’ve know this pretty Momma for many years, and have been blessed to take photos for her twice! (you can see her engagement photos from two years ago HERE) It makes me incredibly happy so many of my clients repeatedly choose Savvy Images to capture their important moments. Since moving back to Texas, I’ve been doing the full time Momma gig, BUT my little Lady recently started school. Time with her is priceless and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, but MY… how I often yearned to photograph beautiful things!! Thank goodness for beautiful, radiant, past clients like this one who make babies… Haha.

These two love nature and being outdoors, therefore an outdoor maternity session was the only way to go. Even in the mid-summer TEXAS heat! This Momma was a MAJOR trooper. She wore her mother’s vintage hat during her session and was stunning thru to the very end. We tried to capture as many great images as we could before melting. While I like to make photo sessions as painless as possible, unfortunately I have no control over the smoldering heat. Thank goodness, the Daddy-to-be was patient. Most of all, I truly admired how MUCH he adored and cared for his lovely bride. One day he is going to be such a great role model for his little man. These two are going to make incredible parents. I’m so eager to meet their precious baby boy next month!!

Savvy Images - Traveling Twins Pregnancy Announcement Session

    Traveling Twins…

    Maternity

Traveling Twins?!? That’s right Houston… this winter this well travelled couple are expecting the arrival of precious twins!! Believe it or not, they had to board a plane to New Zealand the very same day they found out they were pregnant! What a longggg flight to wrap their heads around all the excitement to come. From the beginning, they shared a special passion for travel, so it was only appropriate to announce their exciting news with a fun TRAVEL themed Pregnancy Announcement Mini Session!! The Momma-to-be started a travel blog called Always on Vacay and put their passion to work. Her blog is guide dedicated to travel, work, home and living a healthy lifestyle. Right up my alley! We met on social media because of our mutual interest in traveling. It didn’t take us long to figure out that we lived right down the street from each other. When she came to me with with her exciting news and announcement vision, I knew it was the perfect fit. I absolutely LOVE customizing my clients photos sessions, and just had to bring her unique idea to life! Especially because she wanted to include her first two (FUR) babes. They’re family also, and it’s clear they add quadruple the cuteness to their photos. ;-) Oh my goodness, traveling twins! I’m already so excited for their newborn photo session! But wait, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself…lol. Next up from these two, will be their Maternity Photo Session later this fall. Meanwhile, be sure to subscribe to the Savvy Images blog (to the right of this text) to be the first to see what fun/creative idea we are cooking up for that!

Texas Bluebonnet Maternity Photos - Savvy Images - Houston Maternity Photographer

      A Beautiful Belly & Bluebonnets

      Maternity

I live and shoot in Texas now, so I absolutely HAD to take maternity photographs with a gorgeous momma surrounded by beautiful bluebonnets! After moving back to Texas late last summer, to see everyones beautiful (early summer) bluebonnet photos online, I prematurely conspired to make this session a reality. For months, I dreamt about stumbling across the perfect location, just as I had done in Alaska when I discovered an epic Fireweed field for a styled maternity session. Just as the timing of fireweed, you know about when to expect bluebonnets, but catching them at their peak is a little tricky. Especially being new to Houston, not knowing where all the great locations are.

Timing is everything, and it could not have been more perfect when this beautiful Momma-to-be reached out to me. Everything fell together great, even the last minute sneaky location, and all we needed was for Mother Nature to cooperate with our spontaneous plan. If only. She put up a bit of a fight and made the session a challenging one. Because this was a Maternity Mini Session, our time to capture all the beauty was very limited. The cloudy morning turned out to be a bright sunny day, all too fast, and the wind was crazy! Though there are many unsuccessful, wind blown images, in the end, the wind actually ended up working out great for us in several photos.

This stunning Momma was nervous about being in front of the camera. Lets be real, it’s awkward for just about any of us! But after the session, she was surprised how NOT awkward it was. I make sure to give all my mommas and clients a great deal of direction AND feedback during their session, so they’re not just left there to stand quietly in front of my lens. I let you know what looks good, we talk, sometimes I tell jokes, and I even make you laugh at yourself (in a good way, of course). My goal is to get you to relax, be as natural as possible, and (gasp) even enjoy taking photos! She said I was really good at letting her know just what to do, so I’ll call it a success! After all, she IS gorgeous, so she should definitely feel that way when in front of my camera. I’m SO happy we made this session happen. My Bluebonnet Momma has gorgeous photos of her beautiful bump, and I finally have Texas options for studio artwork, y’all!!

      A New Summer Addition

      Maternity

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing these adorable, yet very serious twins since they were in their Momma’s belly shortly after moving to Alaska. So it’s pretty bittersweet that I had the chance to squeeze their sister’s maternity photo session right before leaving Alaska. Unfortunately their dad couldn’t be there for this session, but he definitely played a part in picking the final images for their Photo Collection from afar. How exciting that they are expecting a new summer addition to their cute family! She’ll be coming any day now, and I know that she will be just precious! I’m extremely sad to leave such amazing clients, like this beautiful momma. BUT so grateful that I was able to capture so many beautiful moments for them. The biggest compliment for a photographer is for someone to book them to capture other special times in their life. Multiply that compliment times TEN when that someone REbooks you many times after that. You may remember seeing this cute family in this past Winter’s Mini Session Blog. It’s pretty special that I’ve had the opportunity to build such great relationships, especially when loyalty is SO hard to come by these days. I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to walk away from that, but I look forward to seeing their families grow and blossom from afar. The world is a pretty small place, so there’s a huge possibility that our path’s could eventually cross again one day!? And the exciting news, is that now I have the chance to continue and build even more great relationships with fun folks down in Texas! If you’re interested in receiving information about Savvy Images photography once we get resettled down south, please scroll down and shoot me a quick message! I plan on offering a pretty amazing photo session special once that happens, so you DON’T want to miss that memo. ;-PTwin Maternity Session

        Our Maternity Session Surprise

        Maternity, Pets

A little over six weeks ago, Sonja Stafford of Dolce Vita Photo Boutique did our maternity session and took some beautiful photos of my growing family (and growing belly…haha). Little did we know that the night after that session, our feisty little lady would start trying to make her way into this world. Let’s talk about some crazy timing!! She made that happen super early on the morning of March 29th, and our plans to move to Texas the following week quickly changed! There will be much more about her in a future blog post including her much anticipated newborn photos, but now, I want to focus on our maternity session with Sonja. We did our maternity session a bit earlier than I normally would have, due to the timing of our move down to Texas. Because our baby girl was “Made in Alaska”, it was important to me that our maternity photos were done here also. With all of the major moving chaos, each of our crazy schedules and the wonky Alaskan weather, I am SO glad that we were able to schedule them when we did. It was also really important to me to work with a photographer that I could connect well with on this session, as I hoped to have a great recommendation for all my past clients. In my opinion, being able to connect well with your photographer is a HUGE factor to the success of your photo session. You want to make sure they bring out the best in you, and make you feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera (especially for me spending most my time behind the lens). Let’s just say that from the beginning is was clear that we would connect incredibly well. I wish we had started hanging out together much sooner! Though our photography styles are a bit different, I feel like we see photography in the same light, and aspire to offer the same experience to each of our clients. It’s special to share a passion like that with someone! Sonja was wonderful about brain storming session ideas and locations. We even met up a few times to hang and check out possible locations. My husband and I really wanted to capture as much of the incredible beauty of Alaska in our maternity session. I’m very pleased that even though the wind was INSANELY STRONG everywhere we went, Sonja was able to make that happen for us. AND, she even made me feel fabulous all through out the session. Any expecting woman knows THAT is extremely important when you’re carrying extra weight around the middle! ;-) We included our first (fur) baby in the session, worked with the wind as best we could, and made our way towards/down our favorite road in all of Alaska. Sonja even managed to wrap up our session by capturing a few photos of us standing smack dab in the middle of the Seward Highway! SO for all my many amazing clients that are looking for someone new to capture beautiful moments, be sure to contact Sonja with Dolce Vita Photo Boutique. She just opened up a large, yet charming studio space in the historic arts district of downtown Anchorage last week, and I’m excited to see her do great things in the near future. I like to think that I have pretty high standards for the entire photography experience, and it’s great to be able to recommend her with confidence!Dolce Vita Photo Boutique - Anchorage Photographer - Maternity Photos

Savvy Images Rainbow Baby Maternity Photo Session

        A Rainbow Baby Announcement

        Families, Kids, Maternity

This cute family has an EXCITING and colorful announcement to make… They are expecting a beautiful little Rainbow Baby girl this June!! Pretty early in my pregnancy, I was taking a one on one pilates class from this fit hot momma, and I confided my exciting pregnancy news to her… only to find out a few short weeks later at a mutual friends baby shower, that SHE was expecting a baby girl also! I was so excited to finally have someone here in Anchorage to swap real time pregnancy stories and advice with. We chatted briefly about doing pregnancy announcement photos, and within a week or so (thanks to a great idea she had) we formulated a super unique plan for their pregnancy announcement photos. And that’s when I learned all about what exactly what she meant… A “rainbow baby” is a baby that’s born following a miscarriage or still birth. Once I heard her explanation, I felt like such a ding dong. It made SO much sense. We all know that beautiful rainbows appear after dreadful storms. By incorporating a rainbow umbrella into her session following their past storm, was the PERFECT way to remember her precious angel baby boy, while celebrating and announcing the news of their beautiful baby girl. I just love the vivid pop of color against the Alaskan snow. It was superrrr chilly out, so we made sure their photo session was short and sweet. But regardless of the temperature, you can still tell from their photos that big sister is VERY excited and proud to share their Rainbow Baby news! Just as she should be. I’m so eager to photograph them again once mom’s cute little belly grows a bit more!Rainbow Baby Savvy Images - Pregnancy Announcement Photos

        Exciting News for the Holidays!!

        Maternity, Personal

It’s that time of year.. the hustle and bustle of the holidays.. the time of year when we squeeze our loved ones a little bit tighter, and we’re reminded of all the wonderful things we’re thankful for. Before the holidays even began this year, things actually got a little bit chaotic for my little family. In a pretty amazing way. And in a complete photographers fashion (as you would expect), I thought that our amazing chaos would be best celebrated with a cheesy-cute photo shoot. My good friend Rob Siciliano, of Siciliano Photography, captured all the beautiful images below. We had to get a bit creative to find a photo shoot location anywhere near Anchorage that had decent looking snow. It’s completely beyond me that we live in Alaska, it’s mid-December, and I actually just said that we struggled to find decent looking snow! Luckily, both Rob and my husband were major troopers, and made my vision come to life.Taken by Siciliano Photography - Savvy Images Pregnancy Announcement
Taken by Siciliano Photography - Savvy Images Pregnancy AnnouncementI couldn’t be more thrilled to share these photos AND our exciting news with all of you!!Taken by Siciliano Photography - Savvy Images Pregnancy Announcement

That’s right, our little family will be welcoming a precious little baby GIRL early next June! This has been such an incredibly HARD secret to keep over the last several months, but we couldn’t be more excited. It is very clear to us that we have SO much to be grateful for. Our lives are about to get turned upside down in such a fantastic way! The spontaneous trips and some of my random recent Instagram photos may potentially make a little more sense now… We were getting our airline miles and adventures in while we still could. ;-) With the help of faux cocktails and many trusty service industry folks, we were able to keep our exciting little secret much longer than we ever thought possible! Luckily, (from what I’ve been told) it’s been a pretty smooth pregnancy, because going to multiple weddings and events expecting without many folks knowing about it can get challenging!

Yesterday evening we had a balloon confetti gender reveal party with our close friends here in Anchorage, and with our family on video chat. I’m so grateful for technology (and my tech-savvy sister-in-law), so that our family could be a part of the fun on Google Hangout. WOW, I still can’t believe we are having a girl!! Now we can finally start discussing names, nursery colors, AND all the best safety rated baby products! (Have you met my husband?? ;-) Love you honey! I give you a hard time, but it really does make me extremely happy to know our baby girl is already a blessed little one) Pinterest and I have a major date tonight. For those that are curious, I assure you that this momma WILL NOT be jumping on the frilly, crazy pink, glittery, ruffled up bandwagon, just because we’re having a girl. Family, friends… Seriously, for the love of sugar and spice and all things nice, PLEASE pump the breaks if/when considering any of the over-the-top-cute little girl jazz! (wink, wink, nudge) ;-P

Speaking of great baby products, if any of my awesome mommas out there have any great pregnancy OR baby product recommendations, I would absolutely LOVE to hear all about those!
